The snail's house

SANDRA GARCÍA NIETO

The House of the Snail is the most intense and moving novel of recent times, a magnificent text that captures a love story that transforms into a thriller. It is also a journey of initiation for the protagonist, an encounter with his personal fears in a remote Andalusian village. But this book is much more; its lines encompass a family drama, an encounter with ghosts from the past and present, and the introduction of a cast of very peculiar characters in the closed and suffocating universe of a village, making it impossible to put down.

Writer Antonio Prieto decides to spend the summer in the mountains of Malaga, where he hopes to find peace and inspiration for his next novel and where he plans a relaxing vacation.
There he meets Berta, a woman to whom he feels an instant attraction, as well as some strange individuals about whom he begins to write and research. Antonio begins to discover a suffocating atmosphere filled with disturbing characters where nothing is what it seems.

The end of the book is stark and dazzling.

The film of the same name, directed by Macarena Astorga, stars Javier Rey and Paz Vega, among others, who collaborated on this book by writing their experiences in the form of a prologue.

"The House of the Snail is not just a story for adults. It's also a reflection on the traumas that shape our destiny and on the human capacity to respond to difficult-to-understand events."
Paz Vega, lead actress.

“All the characters in the novel have their past, all have something to hide, they are rich and complex personalities that make reading a delight.”
Javier Rey, lead actor.
