JORDI BRU AND THE CIVIL GUARD

This spectacular hardcover book with dust jacket contains over 200 photographs in its 280 pages that recreate historical scenes from the Civil Guard since its founding in 1844. It also portrays the different units that comprise the Benemérita, such as the Traffic Group, the GREIM, the Cavalry Squadron, the Air Service, and the UEI (Special Intervention Unit). It also includes all the uniforms from all the periods portrayed, along with their details.

Jordi Bru (Pamplona, 1967) is a professional photographer dedicated to the recreation of historical armies and battles, from the Spanish Tercios to the Second World War, including the Napoleonic Wars, the Carlist Wars, and the Spanish Civil War. He traveled to Bosnia in 1993 and then worked for a decade at the newspaper El Mundo, in the Basque Country and Catalonia offices. After this, he returned to Pamplona, where he works for architecture and culture magazines and for publishing houses in the Basque Country and France. In 2013, he visited a Napoleonic reenactment in his native Navarre and became interested in recreating battles and historical events through photography and digital editing. As a result of his work, praised by Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau, among others, he received one of the commissions he is most proud of: the book "Guardia Civil, the History of the Benemérita in Photography," which, in turn, has brought him into contact with other military forces. For the Army, he created a photographic history of the Galician 64th Mountain Hunters Infantry Regiment in Jaca, one of the oldest in service in the world, in a project that has seen him accompany this unit on missions in Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Lebanon. Always striving for maximum historical accuracy, his work involves meticulous documentation to achieve recreations that are as faithful as they are memorable, bringing viewers closer to key episodes in Spanish history.
